I have been working on this within Darkon for most of this year. It has passed all three branches of Darkon's administration (Executive Board, Senate, and Noble Council), but the specifics have yet to be hammered out with the ORCS EB. Considering that some of you are interested in attending the campout next weekend, here is the deal:
1) Any ORCS member in good standing that has attended more than 5 ORCS events will be permitted to use their armor and fight with whatever melee weapons they choose. A player who has attended 10 or more events will also be permitted to use missle weapons. Please note that morningstars in Darkon do YELLOW damage, NOT red! Obviously all gear must go through the usual check-in process.
2) Any ORCS member who wishes to do this MUST have their status verified by the ORCS Secretary. (See below.)
3) Any visting ORCS member who has attended less than 5 DARKON events will still be required to attend the new player speech.
4) All other requirements apply, such as a signed waiver form which will be provided at check-in. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian sign their waiver form also. The waiver can be downloaded and printed here: http://www.darkon.org/waiver2008.pdf
5) Character classes/levels **DO NOT** transfer!!
6) At present, anyone who has attended less than 5 DARKON events will be required to check in as a Fighter. This will be something that we can discuss at the meeting in November, but I haven't discussed classes with Darkon's Executive Board yet, so I don't want to confuse our Secretary. So for now at least, just check in as fighter.
Please review the Darkon's Campout Policy here: http://www.darkon.org/campout.html
Also, it is the responsibilty of the visiting player to familiarize themselves with any differences in the rules between the two games, especially weapon specifications. The Darkon rulebook can be found here: http://www.darkon.org/DarkonRulebook-July2009.pdf
For the time being, the ORCS Secretary may contact me directly with status verification either via a private message on this board, or by e-mail at dboomhower at verizon dot net. If your Secretary can get a list to me by Friday morning of all of the visiting ORCS players with their attendance status, I can take that sheet to our Secretary for check-in purposes.
**ANYONE WHO'S NAME DOES NOT APPEAR ON THE LIST OF VERIFIED MEMBERS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO USE ARMOR OR RESTRICTED WEAPONS.**
Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
